The Last 20 Months

In the last 20 months I haven't blogged much because I don't have much to say that is just my own. I've been nannying for a family and so much of what I've done involves them. In fact, more of the last 20 months have been spent with them than with my own family. And I don't typically broadcast where we are or where we've been, leaving precious little time to do things and talk about them.

In the past 20 months, I've also fallen more in love with my husband, who hung in there when I traveled and sometimes travelled with us. He held a small child during her two hour crying jag and carried her 18 city blocks because I didn't want to take a cab. Months later, he waited in line for hours, in some of the most miserable hot I've ever been in, holding that same small child, to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. He's changed diapers on the fly and braved spit-up - all from children who were not his own, but who he loved any way.

In the past 20 months, we bought a house in a 1950s neighborhood. A house that we didn't plan to grow old in, but one that we hoped to start a family in.

In the last 20 months, we had kink in our plan: a pregnancy that took us by surprise from beginning to end. Our Kink was aptly named: I was expecting a 7 lb, bald girl in January and on December 20, Beckett Levi made his grand entrance as an 8 lb boy with a head full of hair! I've never been more surprised!

In the last 20 months, I've become a mother and made my husband a father. In this house, we made a family, a home, a life. We've made and lost friends. Loved Jesus. Loved each other well.

It was a good 20 months.
